This training will review:

  • Updated evidence and new methods of contraception
  • Contraception considerations for conditions including endometriosis, fibroids, PCOS, and adenomyosis

  • Best practices and updated evidence for the provision of contraception for people with bigger bodies

Best Practices in Contraceptive Care: Evidence-Based Guidelines and Updates

This session will provide a case-based review of the CDC’s evidence-based guidelines for patient eligibility for a range of contraceptive methods as well as an overview of the latest professional recommendations for offering contraception. We will review patient eligibility, compare and contrast side effects, risks, and benefits for a range of methods, with an emphasis on methods that are newer to market and methods for which guidance has recently been updated.

Contraception for the Management of PCOS, Endometriosis, and Fibroids

This session will explore the role of contraception in the management of common gynecologic conditions, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and adenomyosis. Through interactive case studies, participants will examine key counseling points and review the non-contraceptive benefits of hormonal contraception in managing condition-specific symptoms.

Contraceptive Care for People with Bigger Bodies

This session will review how to identify and challenge weight stigma, how to apply the Health at Every Size® framework, and best practices and updated evidence for contraceptive the provision of contraception for patients with bigger bodies.

Pain Management with IUD Insertions

This interactive session will begin with a didactic session where attendees will learn about the points of pain perception with IUD insertion and compare different, evidence-based pain management options for IUD insertion. After that, we will demonstrate paracervical block administration and attendees will have a chance to practice the hands-on skills.
